A video posted on Facebook by Zairul Mohd Zain, who used a 'short-cut' route in Ladang Bikam to return to Nilai, Negeri Sembilan on the fourth day of Syawal has gone viral on social media.

What caught the attention of many was when Zairul Annuar said, 'They (a group of Chinese men) could choose to sleep, but they preferred to labour in the dark to help ease our journey that night.'

Zairul shared this story on his Facebook to express gratitude to the group of men.

'I am very optimistic that Malaysia still has many kind-hearted citizens despite different races, while our unity remains strong. From the depths of my heart, if given the chance, I want to meet again with the group of men who helped, and thank them once more, because on that day (the incident), I didn't have the opportunity to talk much with them,' he expressed.

That night, the Chinese men had asked them to wait a moment before arriving with a backhoe to repair the road by levelling the uneven terrain so that the drivers waiting in their vehicles who were complete strangers to them could pass through smoothly.

Terima kasih and syabas to all who banded together and helped. It was a commendable act and it is vital to preserve our long-established national unity. I believe our national unity remains strong and intact. We should foster a stronger sense of unity in diversity that will be the key to racial harmony, well-being of the people, and prosperity of the country.
