Wanita MCA to DAP - Don’t sour China-Malaysia bilateral ties just to belittle PM Najib’s fruitful China visit

Wanita MCA is appalled that DAP leaders have descended to racist, scare-mongering against China akin to the Yellow Peril disdain by Western colonialists way back in the 19th and early 20th centuries. DAP lawmakers like Tony Pua and Charles Santiago are purportedly questioning the mega deals which have been reaped in the current official state visit led by Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Najib bin Tun Abdul RAzak, of which our party President Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai is part of the entourage and of which our former MCA President Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting who as Malaysia’s Special Envoy to China had performed a key role in arranging this high-powered visit.

DAP Klang MP Santiago had raised his “concern that one day China will bite Malaysia real hard as it knows Malaysia is in its pocket as the needy partner. When that happens, Malaysia may be forced to toe the line, for fear of angering China (Malaysiakini, 1 Nov 2016),” whilst Pua in rebutting to PM Najib’s anti-colonialist remarks had alleged that “PM Najib is yielding to China’s geo-political, economic supremacy (Free Malaysia Today).

DAP is ignoring the 600 years of diplomatic ties which China and Malaysia have shared since trade routes were established between China and Malacca in the early 15th century.

DAP is neglecting that PM Najib’s official state visit to China has secured 14 business arrangements signed with proposed investments estimated at RM143.64 billion held at the Malaysia-China Business Forum on 1 Nov 2016 in the engineering, construction and development, railway, banking, birdnest, silicon solar cell industries and heaps more.

These RM144 billion in deals signed translates to FDI raised for Malaysia, technology transfer, transforming villages to be urbanised, generating plenty of jobs, connecting our cities to the countryside which leads to economic growth of our nation and peoples.

How dare DAP question PM Najib’s loyalty? On the contrary, DAP should acknowledge that PM Najib is a master diplomat in securing this magnitude volume of investments for Malaysia’s benefit.

China like any other high-income nation e.g. America or Japan extends FDI and Overseas Development Aid (ODA) to any country. Why doesn’t DAP question America or Japan in their such endeavours?

So state-level trade delegations to China by Opposition states is ok but not for Putrajaya?

Penang Chief Minister cum DAP Secretary General Lim Guan Eng and Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Azmin Ali are also known to bring their Excos along on trade delegations overseas hoping to secure FDIs for their respective states. Why not Tony Pua and Charles Santiago use the same arguments against their bosses, more so for Penang which is already riddled with complaints of Singapore and Hong Kong companies owning much sought-after, choice location heritage homes in the heart of George Town?

Given the sometimes tumultuous ethnic relationships between the various ethnic groups, PM Najib’s successful visit not only enhances the already robust diplomatic ties between Malaysia and China, it will also help towards reconciling the various races in Malaysia.
