Press statement by MCA Perak State Liaison Committee Chairman Dato' Dr Mah Hang Soon

Unlike DAP, MCA isn’t used to deceiving voters; Nga Kor Ming is paranoid

Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming seems to suffers from paranoia, as he thinks that MCA is resorting to the same old tactics by Nga and DAP in manipulating voters.

Nga seems to over-ponder, but MCA is not at all like him or DAP ie using all sorts of tactics of the past to deceive voters repeatedly. It is an indisputable fact that MCA is using our own emblem for the first time in history. Moreover, we have not rejected the support from UMNO, MIC and the previously-withdrawn Gerakan, so what is there to lie about?

In fact, when Nga Kor Ming gave speeches in different parts of Perak while campaigning during the 14th general election, he shamelessly said that when Pakatan takes over Perak state, there will be permanent land titles for New Village residents. In the end, the Perak Menteri Besar only issued 99-year land leases. Therefore, this should be regarded deception of voters.

I understand that Nga Kor Ming is also a victim of fraudulant promises. During the campaigning period of 14th general election, Lim Guan Eng promised that Nga Kor Ming will be elected a Cabinet Minister, should Pakatan win the election. But he was excluded from the list of appointments as Cabinet Minister and only nominated to be a Deputy Speaker in the Dewan Rakyat now, making both of Guan Eng and Kor Ming guilty of broking their promise to Teluk Intan voters. He should not apply the same standards to MCA, if he was hurt by such fraud. It is unflattering for Nga Kor Ming to fabricate false accusations to frame MCA.

I would like to advise Nga Kor Ming to push the Pakatan government to fulfil their 100-day promises made to Sabah and Sarawak, and implement what was contained in the Malaysia Agreement 1963, and grant real autonomy to both state, instead of accusing MCA, and then continuing to indulge in self-deception.

In the 14th general election, DAP used its own Rocket emblem to contest in Sabah and Sarawak, and not the PKR’s ‘blue eye’ emblem as in West Malaysia. It was a deliberate delusion created to show that it has ‘‘cut off from the West Malaysia Pakatan coalition’’. This is to falsely imply that Sabah and Sarawak DAP have autonomy to win the support of East Malaysians who value autonomy.

After forming the federal government, Pakatan’s promise of implementing the Malaysia Agreement 1963 in 100 days was downgraded to a proposed production of a detailed report in half-year time before a decision is made. The initial 20% oil royalty promised was argued as a 20% nett profit. There was simply no willpower to restore the autonomy of Sabah and Sarawak. The use of the rocket emblem in the 14th general election should be regarded as deceiving the voters.

Nga Kor Ming’s claim thus exposes DAP’s true colours, as the so-called accusation of ‘‘MCA using own emblem to create delusion of cutting off from Barisan Nasional’’ is a ‘self-reflection’’ of DAP’s past deeds in the last general election.
