PETALING JAYA: More world-class cultural and art groups from China are expected to take part in the Blossom Arts Festival Malaysia (BAFM) 2017.

Malaysian Chinese Culture and Arts Consultative Council (MCCACC) chairman Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun said the support from the Chinese government was significant as it highlighted a deepening relationship between both countries.

“We would like to thank the China Embassy for supporting us since the inaugural BAFM last year,” she said at the launch of the BAFM 2017 Malaysia-China Arts Exchange.

China Embassy cultural office director Zhang Jie Xin described the BAFM as a great idea, adding that Chinese heritage and culture were well preserved in Malaysia.

“This year, we are inviting LongZhu Children Peking Opera to perform at the festival,” he said. They will present a special one-show only performance on Aug 13, at 8pm.

China’s news agency Xinhua will also organise the second One Belt One Road Malaysia-China Cultural Arts Forum on Aug 26, between 9.30am and 1pm.

Other BAFM events supported by China include the “Zheng He Duo Yun Xuan” art exhibition and “Dream of the Red Chamber” by the Federation of Seven Clans Association.

The BAFM, spearheaded by the MCCACC, is a month-long celebration of arts and culture.
