Press statement by MCA Publicity Spokesman (English/Bahasa Malaysia) cum Religious Harmony Bureau Chairman Dato’ Sri Ti Lian Ker

Teresa, stop calling us names! DAP is the real lapdog!

It is obvious that the war cry and the reiteration of the success of MCA’s transformation at the commencement and conclusion of the 64th MCA Meeting of the General Assembly (AGM) is disturbing to DAP. Rather than focusing on alleviating the flood deluge in Penang, or to demand  Pakatan Harapan Chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad to apologise for Ops Lalang 30 years ago, Seputeh DAP MP Teresa Kok chooses to pique on MCA by raising the sentiments of detractors and again calling MCA names as “lapdogs (Free Malaysia Today, 5 Nov 2017).”

Contrary to her name calling, MCA has been the check and balance against UMNO from within the Barisan Nasional coalition, during Cabinet meetings and also in public. There are however decisions made within the Constitutional, institutional and individual powers beyond our control but that does not give DAP any right to call us names if it bothers to look at its own backyard.

Following Teresa Kok’s argument, DAP has been and is still a lapdog to Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Azmin Ali (by allowing PAS to be in the Government in Selangor despite being “divorced” and spurned by PAS! Is DAP now a lapdog to Dr Mahathir by subscribing to his Pribumi supremacist intent? This was despite the fact that MCA had taken years to negative the “Bumiputra” centric or “Ketuanan Melayu” dictate when Dr Mahathir was in power. When Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak (upon assuming powers ) tried to water down these race-based tendencies of Dr Mahathir’s rule by introducing 1Malaysia , Tan Sri Muhyiddin insisted that he is “a Malay first” in direct confrontation to his immediate Boss then. Amazingly both these Malay first personalities are now being embraced and hugged by Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng and DAP.

MCA stood firm for Constitution compliance vs DAP embraced PAS & now Dr M

Are we lapdogs when MCA had stood firm and vociferously objected against UMNO’s intention to adopt the proposed amendment of Act 355, mooted by PAS? The Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister had to make a U-turn even if it meant our premier had to forego his popularity among his own UMNO comrades and supporters, and earn the wrath of PAS. Will DAP stop being a lapdog to Azmin by insisting that he expel or sack their PAS “Comrades” in Selangor?

However, DAP’s leaders continue to hoodwink the public into thinking that its literal embrace and physical hug with Hadi Awang which did not work out in less than 2 years, will hopefully see a revival of support via new bear hugs with Dr Mahathir, whom Lim Guan Eng, Lim Kit Siang had in the past lampooned as “hypocritical”, “dictator” – this coming after suffering from the fallout of PAS deserting DAP. MCA would like to caution DAP not to hug Dr Mahathir too closely in rebound to PAS’ desertion and rejection. Unlike DAP, MCA leaders maintain our dignity by maintaining a distance of mutual respect. DAP is quick to embrace past and future enemies physically regardless of their principles. MCA on the hand maintains our stand and political core values by insisting on constitutional compliance and consensus building without DAP’s polemics, rhetorics or dramatics.

Teresa Kok should take heed from the words of their own former and current elected representatives. Kua Kia Soong who was detained under ISA during Ops Lalang has reiterated that the late Tiger of Jelutong Karpal Singh would have held Dr Mahathir responsible, and that absolving Dr Mahathir’s role is like absolving Hitler for triggering World War II.

He pointed out that the current Pakatan Harapan leadership is ignoring the former Prime Minister’s role in Ops Lalang. Obviously, this is a case of practising convenient “‘mudah lupa’ dengan harapan rakyat mudah lupa.”

In the words of soon-to-be ex-DAP member ie incumbent Tanjung Bungah rep Teh Yee Cheu, “Dr Mahathir is the reason for me to leave.” However, his exit from DAP should not be viewed as an individual reaction, but a reflection of other ISA detainees, their families and supporters who are now disillusioned by DAP’s hypocrisy and inconsistency.

Still disavowing his role, in typical Dr Mahathir obstinacy, he blames having to listen to the advice of the police although he was also the Home Minister then and took charge of the police and still refuses to apologise.

DAP shields extremist Malay views of UMNO deserters & hate preachers

Lapdogs are we or is it DAP which made a U-turn with their tails behind their back by adopting all that they stood for and against in the past. Decades old targets or enemies are now best buddies in Dr Mahathir and Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim who had triggered off Ops Lalang and many more mega scandals  or multiple time bombs according to Lim Kit Siang. Is the PH pact an attempted revival of a neo-UMNO Baru with Dr Mahathir and Anwar at the helm – both known for pandering to extremist Malay views.

Unlike DAP which tried to cover extremists like SAR headmaster Shahul Hamid who spewed “don’t send children to Chinese schools”, MCA had immediately rebuked this extremist views by him and other preachers like Dr Zamihan Mat Zain. DAP instead chose to be silent and there was not even a whimpering meow from Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng who gleefully donated RM174,000 to Shahul’s school only to be figuratively slapped as a “kafir” by Shahul. DAP is proud to announce that they have given more allocations to promote the Islamic agenda in Penang while Chinese schools can dream on in Penang to receive more funds from the DAP state government.

Lapdog is when Guan Eng chose to pass decisions to his right hand men ie Exco for religious affairs Dato’ Abdul Malik Abdul Kassim to defend the xenophobic sputter of Shahul under the guise of freedom of speech, whilst Wan Ji Wan Hussin, Special Information Officer to the Chief Minister confirmed his boss’ administration is taking a “friendly approach” to Shahul’s extremist views despite the Council of Malay Rulers’ open admonition of such theatrics.

Furthermore, DAP had been quick to announced in 8 years, allocations to Islamic affairs totalled RM450million vs RM7.11million to other religions in 4 years to camouflage their words and posturing of chauvinism of the past. Assuming, that the DAP Penang government allocated RM15million in 8 years for non-Islamic affairs, the 30 to 1 ratio does indicate the DAP kitty curdling up  and purring to PAS to recover lost Muslim vote in a puppy love and lapdog gesture to their new love Dr Mahathir now that Hadi Awang has spurned them and Anwar is in jail .

DAP’s dogged assaults on MCA hold no water when its own CAT policy in Penang has turned into a kitty whimper, given its humongous failures in flood mitigation and SOP, reducing hillslope developments or preventing land and air pollution.
