LABIS: Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Chua Tee Yong will be defending his Labis parliamentary seat in the coming general election.

MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai announced that Chua and his division deputy chief Tan Chong would be contesting in the Labis parliamentary and Bekok state seats respectively.

"Chua has been serving well here, has a good track record and very focus in helping the developments in Labis.

"Within the party we have identified him together with Tan Chong, although he lost the (Bekok) state seat in the last election, he has still been serving the people well.

"So, we would like to recommend them to contest in the next general election," he told reporters after having dinner with the local community at SJKC Chaah here on Thursday (Feb 8).

Chua, who is also party vice president, has held the Labis parliamentary seat for two terms since 2008.

Tan lost the Bekok state seat to DAP's Lim Eng Guan in the last election.
