Chong Sin Woon appointed as new MCA Secretary General to succeed Chew Mei Fun

MCA HQ, 26 Sept – The MCA Central Committee (CC) meeting which met today had deliberated primary on two issues, filling up the post of Secretary General which has been left vacant since the outgoing Secretary General Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun had resigned the post.  Speaking to reporters after the conclusion of the MCA CC meeting, party President Datuk Seri Ir Dr Wee Ka Siong informed that using the powers bestowed to him by the party Constitution and after consultation with the CC, he has appointed Datuk Chong Sin Woon as the new MCA Secretary General to succeed Mei Fun who is currently pursuing her doctoral studies in Beijing.  

Sin Woon is the immediate past MCA National Youth Chairman cum Deputy Education Minister.

To a question as to why he has decided to accept the appoint as MCA Secretary General, Sin Woon informed that, “it is timely for me to serve the party. I have been serving the party since I graduated from UKM about 19 years. The party has given me a lot of opportunities.” Adding that having rested  for more than a year, and looking from outside of MCA, he has fresh ideas, the Seremban native conveyed that, “I have fresh ideas. I still keep in very close contact with MCA leaders. Sicne tehre is a vacant position, Ka Siong has come to me several times, it is time to rebuild the party with comrades.”

This echoed what Ka Siong had earlier mentioned whereby, “at the same time, Sin Woon will hold this position and help us (MCA) and myself and (Dato’) Dr Mah (Hang Soon, MCA Deputy President) to observe all works in the party.
