Press statement by MCA Johor State Liaison Committee Deputy Chairman Senator Datuk Lim Pay Hen

Form RCI immediately to uncover truth behind LCS scandal

With each passing day, the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) scandal becomes more and more sensationalised. Before the issue escalates further, the government must form a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to investigate the issue. Furthermore, it is now not only an issue of public interest, but it also reflects the condition of Malaysia’s defenses and security.

If the Malaysian government does not act quickly, the controversy will continue to snowball and give rise to a plethora of misinformation and inaccurate theorems, ultimately fanning the flames of the ongoing political skirmish.

Using the 1MDB issue as an example, even though the issue was extensively publicised and became a staple in political rhetoric pre-election, there are still many people today who only know the surface level information regarding 1MDB.

Thus, an RCI on the issue must be formed as soon as possible, to probe all aspects of the scandal transparently and thoroughly, and bring the culprits to justice. Simultaneously, the RCI will prevent the issue from further deteriorating and help restore public trust towards the administration.

I urge the government to clear the air by presenting the facts and figures clearly in order to give a proper account for the people.
