GE14: Jason Teoh to contest in Gelang Patah parliamentary seat

JOHOR BARU: Gelang Patah MCA division chairman Datuk Jason Teoh is most likely to contest in the Gelang Patah parliamentary seat in the next general election.

MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said that there was no deserving candidate other than Teoh to contest in the seat.

"As of today, I have not heard of anyone speaking ill of Teoh's effort here or that he doesn't deserve to stand for the party.

"We are very happy with him and he works very hard for the community here, so unless you can name me another person who is more deserving, then I don't see any changes in this matter.

"Nonetheless, I have to respect the protocol, as only the party president can make an official announcement like this or we'll have to wait until the candidate announcement ceremony," he said.

Dr Wee told this to reporters during a charity dinner to raise funds for SJKC Woon Hwa at the school here on Friday.

During the last general election, the seat, which was originally allocated for MCA, was given to Umno to go against DAP's Lim Kit Siang, who won the seat.
