PETALING JAYA: MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has slammed Nga Kor Ming for describing the party logo as a durian.

The Perak DAP chief made the "durian logo" comment on Saturday (Aug 11) following MCA's unprecedented move in using its own blue-and-yellow "star" logo to contest the upcoming Balakong by-election.

Dr Wee responded on his Facebook account, saying that Nga was being disrespectful to the "Jalur Gemilang".

"The 14-stars emblem symbolises the 13 states and the Federal Government. Him calling it a durian is disrespectful to our flag and our country," he said on Facebook on Sunday (Aug 12).

He urged Nga to "not be rude" and to apologise.

MCA had announced on Friday (Aug 10) that the party would use its party logo to contest in the Balakong by-election following the death of the DAP assemblyman Eddie Ng Tien Chee.

He also urged Balakong voters to support the MCA candidate so that the party can provide a check and balance in the Selangor state assembly.
