Splurge on rakyat, not white elephant projects

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir should give up his wish to see Formula One making a return on Malaysian soil. Instead, the Pakatan Harapan government should concentrate on helping the B40 group, increase and enlarge categories eligible for Bantuan Sara Hidup (BSH), and not embark on unrealistic and unproductive projects.

When Mahathir, Minister of Finance Lim Guan Eng, DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang, Guan Eng’s political secretary Tony Pua and many other PH leaders had gone around town saying that our national coffer is empty and national debt had reached a whopping RM1 trillion, and even tightened the conditions for applications for BSH, what logic and what economic formula are they applying now since they want to splurge RM200 million to reintroduce F1 to Malaysia?

Obviously Mahathir is self-contradicting when on one hand he says Malaysia is going bankrupt but on the other hand, he prepares to spend big to organise these unproductive F1 races.

I hope PH could spend the national wealth based on needs. Save the RM200 million required for reviving F1 races and use it to help the poor and needy who are still living below the poverty line, and enlarge the beneficiary group eligible for BSH to benefit more people.

The tightening of conditions for applications for BSH by the PH government made the application procedure lengthy, complicated and stressful for the people at large, mostly senior citizens. They feel helpless and are suffering.

Ever since PH came into power, our economy had been continuously going downhill, share prices had been dropping and many foreign investors have deserted us. Adding salt to injury are the continuous U-turn of government policies, stagnation of the development of small and medium enterprises  (SMEs) and messy foreign policy.

PH has no answer at all for these crises affecting the nation. Yet, it is willing to spend time and money on unproductive white elephants like the third national car, which has proven to be a money burner.

Please wake up, PH Ministers. You may think that your lifestyle is not impacted, but the common folks suffer.
