Press Statement by MCA PJ Utara Division Chairman Tan Gim Tuan

The fate of Selangor lies in voters’ hands; they must make the right choice

My name is Tan Gim Tuan. Just call me GT. I have recently made a statement that our Selangor Government is going bankrupt.

Syabas, the water distributor company, which is wholly owned by the Selangor State government is being sued by Splash for unpaid bills amounting to 4.22 billion ringgit.

We all know that our Selangor state reserve is only 3 billion at the moment. At the same time the state is also running at a budget deficit of 145 million ringgit.

On top of that, the State has another debt of RM9.65 billion due to the federal government.  This Pakatan-led State Government is in a bad Financial Position.  Selangor is heading towards bankruptcy. Worse still without settling these outstanding bills, Splash will not be able to continue to supply water to Syabas to be distributed to us in Selangor and Klang Valley.

This is a clear indication that the State is badly managed. All these years, they have failed to practice people-centric measures that are pragmatic and sustainable.

All they have done is to politicise matters with complete disregard for the real interest of the people.

It looks like the water problems will not go away with the current government in power.  It is time for us Selangorians to take charge of our state together before it’s too late.
