To realise PM’s selfish ambition or for people’s benefits? What is the reason to revive building a crooked bridge?

What reason is there for Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian and Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad to believe that Johor urgently needs to revive the crooked bridge mega project?  Has the plan to rebuild the crooked bridge been approved by the Cabinet, or is it just to realise the selfish ambition of Prime Minister Tun Mahathir?

In 2006, the government under former Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi was disapproving  against selling sand and opening up our airspace with the sovereignty and interests of the country at stake. These also explained why the crooked bridge project proposed by Tun Mahathir was suspended at that time. Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian has also admitted that the crooked bridge plan cannot solve traffic congestion problems. Now that Tun Mahathir helms the government administration and had decided to revive the crooked bridge plan, what is the reason behind the revived proposal? Is there any survey which shows that Johor state urgently needs a crooked bridge? Otherwise, why are you so anxious to revive the plan?

What action will Pakatan take to implement this plan without hurting national sovereignty and relation between the both nations?

What is Lim Kit Siang’s stand?

On one hand the Pakatan government claimed that the national debt has exceeded RM1 trillion. But on the other hand, it is eager to revive the third national car project and the Singapore-Malaysia crooked bridge plan. Isn’t such rhetoric self-contradicting and scoring own goal?

The DAP Member of Parliament for Iskandar Puteri, Lim Kit Siang had on 15 April 2006 questioned why taxpayers had to pay for the RM1.1 billion Singapore-Malaysia crooked bridge and accused the former government of not doing a good job. Now that Tun Mahathir has decided to revive the crooked bridge project, there may be much more money wasted. What is Lim Kit Siang’s stand on this?

Be it the construction of Singapore-Malaysia crooked bridge, third bridge or High-Speed Rail (HSR), I believe the Pakatan government should take into consideration the interests of country and her people. Therefore, I urge the Pakatan government to present strong reason and proof for a crooked bridge to be built. This is to show that the new government is democratic and transparent.

Otherwise, the people will only doubt whether there is any return of nepotism practices in the revival of crooked bridge by the Pakatan government!
