PETALING JAYA: MCA has questioned DAP's silence after 35 members and leaders of right-wing Perkasa joined PKR last week.

MCA Religious Harmony Bureau head Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker said DAP has also been silent on Perkasa's "travesty of Malay rights" and that "we are now witnessing Pakatan Harapan attracting Malay-centric and extremist elements like beehives.

"It is interesting to note that PKR's Penang exco member Dr Afif Bahardin has welcomed former Perkasa Youth chief Irwan Fahmi Ideris to join Pakatan Harapan together with 35 Youth executive council members and ordinary members.

"Since Malay-centric leaders (such as) Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin formed Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) and joined DAP in Pakatan Harapan, DAP has been silent on Perkasa’s travesty of Malay rights," Ti said in a statement Saturday.

"It is regrettable to note that DAP and the normally outspoken Lim Kit Siang had not reprimanded Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali.

"It is also noteworthy to hear the former Perkasa Youth chief Irwan Fahmi’s admission that it has been Perkasa’s intention to bring Najib's (Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) downfall for his perceived failure to uphold Malay rights etc.

"This has prompted him to join Pakatan Harapan in his belief that Pakatan Harapan will uphold Malay-centric rights and issues better under Tun Dr Mahathir than the current Prime Minister Dato Seri Najib Razak.

"Thus we are now witnessing Pakatan Harapan attracting Malay-centric and extremist elements like beehives.

"Is DAP going to be responsible for empowering Perkasa later the way they have empowered PAS before?

"What is Lim Kit Siang or his son, Lim Guan Eng’s comments or stand on this?

"What is DAP’s take on these recent trend of elements of Malay-centric and extremism joining Pakatan?" Ti said.

"Will DAP put their foot down and say 'No' to extremist like Perkasa?" he added.
