JOHOR BARU: Pakatan Harapan will not be able to take the country forward as it does not have any core values among its coalition members, says Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai (pic).

The MCA president said DAP, PKR, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia and Parti Amanah Negara only want to be in power with each party fighting for its own struggles.

“MCA, together with Umno and other component parties in Barisan Nasional, have the same values such as cooperation, unity and respect for one another.

“This strong bond that Barisan upholds clearly helps to create political stability within a multiracial society,” he said after attending a dialogue with Chinese community leaders and NGOs at SJK(C) Pei Chih in Taman Desa Cemerlang here yesterday.

“First, their leaders were working closely with PAS before a fallout and severing ties. Now, they are seen together with Pribumi leaders.

“Recently, Penang Pakatan welcome former Perkasa youth chief (Irwan Fahmi Ideris), who has joined PKR, like a hero into their fold.

“I find this development rather strange as DAP has often criticised Perkasa but now, it seems their leaders are accepting him as an official partner,” he pointed out.

On another matter, Liow said MCA has picked potential candidates to represent the party to contest in the 14th general election.

“We have given some names to the Prime Minister,” he said.

Among the candidates in Johor are MCA vice-president Datuk Dr Hou Kok Chung for the Tebrau parliamentary seat and Datuk Tan Cher Puk for the Johor Jaya state seat.

“Tan continues to work hard for the people in Johor Jaya even though he lost in the last election.

“I asked him to make a comeback because he still has the support of the people. He is the best candidate to wrest back the seat,” he said.
