PETALING JAYA: The MCA has questioned DAP’s silence over what it calls “extremist elements” within Pakatan Harapan.

MCA Religious Harmony Bureau chairman Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker said Pakatan was attracting more Malay-centric and extremist elements and asked if DAP was going to be responsible in “empowering them just like it did with PAS”.

“Is DAP going to work with Perkasa the way it worked with PAS solely in the interest of its political agenda and greed for more political power?

“Will DAP put its foot down and say ‘No’ to extremists like Perkasa?” he said in a statement yesterday.

Ti said as Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin formed Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia to join the DAP in Pakatan, the DAP had been silent on recent statements by Perkasa, such as its declaration of “war” against the Government if the Unified Examinations Certificate were to be recognised.

“It is regrettable to note that DAP and the normally outspoken Lim Kit Siang did not reprimand Perkasa president Datuk Ibrahim Ali then,” he said.
