Calling Guan Eng’s bluff – Slamming BN on funding for Chinese schools in Johor,  he masked that the RM500k disbursement was for schools in Penang & NOT Yong Peng  High School

MCA HQ, 18 Jan 2018 – It is gutter politics heaped by DAP Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng when he erroneously alluded that Yong Penang High School in Johor was not receiving sufficient funds despite it being located in a BN constituency. The butt of the DAP Secretary General’s criticisms were arrowed at MCA Ayer Hitam MP Datuk Seri Dr Ir Wee Ka Siong. However, his main target is to snare Ayer HItam constituency for Pakatan HArapan (PH). The criticism against BN on the Chinese school allocation issue is a mere façade. This was exposed by Ka Siong, who is also MCA Deputy President when chairing a press conference to clarify allocations to Yong Peng High School which Guan Eng has yet to donate this year.

“Recently, I have come under fire from Lim Guan Eng who alleged that although I was giving allocations to Chinese schools, the amount is not enough,” conveyed Ka Siong. He then alerted that he knew that “Guan Eng or his party have given up two seats which were contested by DAP to change the right of DAP to contest on a DAP ticket in Ayer Hitam parliamentary constituency. But strangely, DAP has not fielded candidates but will lend the seat to an Amanah candidate.” Ka Siong then explained that “this is political chess at play by Pakatan Harapan (PH).” Nevertheless, a true statesman that  Ka Siong is, he affirmed, “this is their respective right.  I have never questioned this.”

He next highlighted that Guan Eng has a muslihat (hidden intention). “Guan Eng wants to kill me in my political career because I am seen as a leader in my kawasan, where I have 50 schools.”

The DAP Bagan Parliamentarian makes a mountain out of BNs’ purported lack of funding for  Yong Peng High School but he shrewdly refuses to disclose that he did not provide any funding for the said school, only leaving it as “he was approached.”

Ka Siong pointed that the school which Guan Eng e said the MCA Ayer Hitam MP did not give enough is an Independent Chinese High School. Boasting that he apparently gave more than half a million to Independent Chinese high schools, Ka Siong then reminded Guan Eng “it is a state allocation which he can give to schools over there, in his capacity as Chief Minister and not for schools in Yong Peng.”

The ulterior motive for Guan Eng to perpetuate MCA’s alleged failure to help Chinese schools is “actually to make the Chinese voters hate me, like as if I didn’t help as an MCA representative.”

DAP plays divide-&-rule game

“I also know they are double faced – to the Chinese community, he says ‘Wee Ka Siong  didn’t help the Chinese,’ and he will use this information that I know, will use his agents and konco (henchmen) and among the Malay community say that, ‘Wee Ka Siong helps the Chinese a lot with the answers I am giving today.’”

Elaborating on colour blind goodwill as practised among BN partners, Ka Siong reiterated, “I as part of MCA say this is part of BN’s  musyawarah (consultation). I very much help Chinese schools, including national schools and secondary schools. This is my duty as an elected representative.”

As to the RM5 million allegedly allocated to Ka Siong, the MCA number two remarked, “he forgot. I have 33 mosques, 105 surau, 90 Malay villages, keparitan (drainage), village pathways, 60 taman (parks), 60 Resident Associations added with the Rukun Tetangga. These were not taken into account and he wants the Chinese to detest me, because apparently ‘I did not give allocation to Chinese schools’ just as how he has given in Penang.”

No help from Guan Eng for Yong Peng, but all restricted to Penang

Slamming this strategy as a “dirty tactic by Guan Eng,” the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department stressed, “he did not come Yong Peng High School to give RM500,000 but he gave that amount to his constituencies where he has support from the Chinese there.”

Deeply committed to his endeavour to Ayer Hitam residents, Ka Siong acknowledged, “for me, although support for me then was not that fantastic in my constituency, I have never given up but will continue to give to all schools be it Chinese schools, Tamil schools, national schools, to all schools.”

Exposing that Guan Eng will exploit Ka Siong’s reply on Chinese schools, the latter said, “he will use this reply of me apparently still helping Chinese schools and incite the Malays to finally give victory to PH.)

“Hence, that is why they say Yong Peng constituency has grown from white to grey and black. But never mind. If you are brave to contest, do contest. We do not hope to win without contesting. Whoever who wants to contest, we don’t snap but we are gentlemen,” expressed Ka Siong in welcoming competition for the Ayer Hitam federal seat while pressing to the Opposition “don’t use lies and manipulation, like as if a Minister has an RM10 million allocation. Again, this is another slander by Guan Eng. Where did the RM10mil come from?”

Ka Siong then gave the example, “if a Minister has RM1 million, besides taking care of his constituency alone, but (he has to take care) in all areas. If I have this figure and it is my portfolio to help 613 New Villages, this is a federal Minister’s allocation.

Imagine I attend all programmes, I help. But Guan Eng will say I have RM10million allocation but don’t want to help Chinese schools.”

“What is DAP’s agenda?” Ka Siong inquired, before clarifying, “we know it is for political chess playing in Ayer Hitam constituency so that the Malay, Chinese, and Indian communities will all despise me.”

As Ka Siong feels called to answer, he reiterated that “what I want to clarify is that the RM500,000 Guan Eng gave is not for my area but his area.”

Drawing a comparison between conduct of BN and the childish politicking by the Rocket, Ka Siong informed, “sometimes the BN Johor government performs better and some schools are given RM1million but we never teased Penang. We only say whichever government shows a better example, we applaud.”

Urging Guan Eng “not to politicise the education agenda until like this,” Ka Siong conveyed that, “in fact, the school has also issued a statement. I have kept quiet for 2-3 days. He says I am deflecting the issue to others, but strangely, I made a statement earlier than Guan Eng. On the same day, I sent a statement to Agenda Daily, but Guan Eng only in the evening slammed me.”

Accentuating to PH, “what I want to say is don’t say untruths. This is the gutter politics of PH. If you want to contest, do contest.”

Gearing for GE14

"Responding to a question if he worries about DAP and Amanah, Ka Siong said, "I am more worried about the problems faced by my constituents . I always care for them. Those seasoned politician, come every 5 years to tease me. We all daily turun padang and know what is wanted by the rakyat. I have never and will never said white becomes grey becomes black. You want to say, you say la.  But I say, promises are kept, lawan tetap lawan. We will do the best for the rakyat.
