Press conference after MCA Central Committee Meeting chaired by MCA President Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai

 

The MCA Central Committee which convened its 51st meeting today had deliberated on the following matters:

 

1)       A Party Election Steering Committee chaired by Secretary General Dato’ Sri Ong Ka Chuan has been established to immediately initiate the processes necessary for the MCA party election.

 

2)       A Reform Committee chaired by Deputy President Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has been established. This Committee includes the Organising Bureau, Publicity Bureau, Political Education Bureau, Institute of Strategic Analysis and Policy Research (INSAP), MCA Youth and Wanita MCA.

 

3)       The Reform Committee will explore MCA's political line and explore various proposals, such as the transformation of MCA into a multi-racial political party and etc.

 

4)       MCA respects the decision by voters. We will play an effective role in the Opposition. This election has also opened up a new era of a two-party system, a goal which everyone was hoping for.

 

5)       It is the aspiration of MCA that our nation progresses. We hope the new government is able to carry out their promises. MCA will monitor the administration of the new government.
