Press statement by MCA Publicity Spokesperson Dato’ Sri Ti Lian Ker

DO NOT LET DAP’S LIES DECEIVE YOU

DAP Supremo, Lim Kit Siang is truly a master of deceit and deception. Just this week, he deceitfully said news that the Prime Minister had returned most of the controversial RM2.6 billion was fake news – this after it was clearly confirmed and acknowledged by the Wall Street Journal, the US Department of Justice, our Auditor-General - and even Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz herself. DAP persistently continues to try and deceive the people that RM2.6 billion was misappropriated – this has been their one and only deceitful propaganda and attack on  Dato’ Sri Najib Abdul Razak despite numerous explanations and confirmations by the authorities.

This is typical DAP style of stopping at nothing to attain and achieve their political ends. Kit Siang is desperate to position his party and his son Guan Eng into the Federal Government. He has seen the writing on the wall in the many allegations of power abuse in the Penang DAP government. He will not stop at nothing and is resorting to any possible means to wipe out MCA and Gerakan - thus his readiness to retract his past allegations against Tun Dr. Mahathir by accepting him as their Prime Minister candidate. Furthermore, he has agreed to forego their Rocket logo for another junior party’s logo. This speaks volumes of DAP and Lim Kit Siang’s political credibility and dignity.

Truth is that Kit Siang knows that Pakatan will not form the next government and it is only a pipe dream. However Kit Siang is desperately in need of Malay votes to wipe off MCA and Gerakan. On one hand he taunts MCA and Gerakan for being dependent on the Malay votes to win their seats. On the other hand he’s craving for Malay votes and is panicking now that they have lost the basket of votes from PAS in GE13. DAP is hoping that Mahathir can deliver Umno breakaway votes and PAN delivers PAS breakaway votes in the Mca and Gerakan remaining constituencies. DAP is not fighting for a change in government but is waiting to work together with UMNO and even PAS in a new unity government if MCA and Gerakan are out of the way. Thereafter DAP will say UMNO or PAS have changed - the way they claimed Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad has changed. The only obvious change since Dr Mahathir took over the helm of Pakatan is to dictate that DAP undress and abandon their Rocket logo which is too chauvinistic for Mahathir to stomach.

DAP trying to replace MCA?

All this political manoeuvring is calculated, so that the DAP can replace MCA and Gerakan in the new unity Federal Government – Since DAP can accept PKR’s logo per se unconditionally, there is a possibly that they may even merge with any Malay parties including UMNO if necessary. If DAP can so quickly forgive and forget the many publicly alleged wrongs, abuses and deeds of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, then we should not dismiss any possibility from them. They were staunch enemies with Dr Mahathir for 40 years and now, just to attain their political aims, they have joined hands with him. This does not say much for their credibility as a political party. Clearly, the party has no principles and self-respect and willing to stoop down low to do anything for power , personal glory and personal survival.

In contrast, MCA has been quietly doing its job of working for the betterment of the Chinese community all this while. We do not go around blowing our own trumpets and politicising all that we do, but instead strive to do our best for the community by depoliticising racial or radical issues. In doing so, we do not forego or neglect the interests of the community or minorities. Via the practice and convention of consensus building in the Barisan Nasional coalition, MCA continues to work for the community within the reality of our constitutional and political framework. We do not waste time indulging in cheap propaganda, lies and incite hatred ala DAP.

Guan Eng coughed various excuses to avoid clearing the air on controversies

DAP claims to be clean and righteous but they are silent when Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng refused to come clean or clear the air regarding the numerous controversies he is embroiled in. Instead he resorted to citing party protocols to avoid a public debate with MCA Deputy President Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong . Guan Eng has so much to hide from the public and his party is too silent on his perceived abuses of power. There are still numerous issues surrounding the purchase of his bungalow which he is yet to clarify, while everyone is aware of the nonsense surrounding the multi-billion ringgit Penang Undersea Tunnel. MCA has on numerous occasions invited Guan Eng to debate the issues surrounding the undersea tunnel, but to date, he has come out with all kinds of excuses to back down. We, in the MCA take this opportunity to appeal to the rakyat not to be deceived by DAP’s lies and propaganda.

In the end, the rakyat are the judge and the jury and the right to a better future lies in their hands and not DAP. History speaks for itself and looking around, we can see all that the BN government has done for the people.

We have served the people relentlessly since independence and now suddenly, DAP is out to claim otherwise and fighting to replace us with nothing to show but U-turns and promises after promises.

MCA leaves it to the people to decide if they want MCA to continue to play the check and balance role from within, or to trust the inconsistent DAP. DAP after obtaining Malay support via their “unholy” pact with PAS and now Mahathir has become so arrogant , pompous and self-centred. It is time for the father and son team of Kit Siang and Guan Eng to come forward and clear the air on their Malay leader Dato’ Zaid Ibrahim’s latest allegations that DAP is basically a Chinese party and not continue to hurl baseless allegations against MCA and BN.
