KUALA LUMPUR: Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) has marked another historic milestone for starting the integrated business incubator at its Kuala Lumpur main campus.

The TARC Incubator has the distinction of being an integrated business incubator and will connect with all key stakeholders, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

“The call for innovation on campus had gained traction with the inclusion of development of innovation ecosystem as one of the shifts in the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2015 to 2025 (Higher Education),” he said at the launch of the TARC Incubator yesterday.

TARC Incubator will connect investors, funders, business support service providers, mentors, government agencies and community of entrepreneurs to form an entrepreneurship ecosystem.

The one-stop centre is for its students, alumni, staff and even the public to seek expert opinion on the viability of business propositions.

The centre will also assist in mentoring, funding and investment from investors and collaboration with TAR UC researchers in product development.

Other services include helping budding entreprenuers to set up companies as well as providing referral to government agencies for advice and guidance.

Dr Wee said institutions of higher learning needed to actively collaborate with the industry in their research activities that would lead to commercialisation of viable ideas.

“We must develop entrepreneurial graduates who are imbued with the will power to be job creators and not merely job seekers,” he said.

Malaysia, he added, needed more young enterpreneurs to energise small and medium enterprises to stimulate the economy.
