BENTONG: There is a possibility that MCA would be using its own logo in for the Balakong by-election.

Party president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the party might be using its logo instead of the Barisan Nasional logo in the polls.

"We will have a meeting to decide about this and to pick a candidate for the seat," he told reporters here after officiating a new building at the Leung Kwong Yee San Cemetery.

On Friday, Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the MCA will fill the candidate for the seat.

"We know that it's a difficult task. It's not easy to win this seat but as a political party, we have the responsibility to check and balance the Government.

"We hope the rakyat can give us the support to fulfil the promises to the rakyat," said Liow.

Balakong, a state seat in Selangor, fell vacant after its assemblyman Eddie Ng died in a road accident.

It had traditionally been an MCA seat but became a DAP stronghold since 2008.

Ng polled 41,768 votes in the May 9 general election. His opponents - Mohamad Ibrahim Ghazali of PAS and MCA's Lim Chin Wah - obtained 6,230 and 5,874 votes respectively.
