Press statement by MCA Publicity Bureau Deputy Chairman Lau Chin Kok

Pakatan Harapan more eager to push for 3rd national car than handle livelihood issues

The Pakatan government is insistent and determined in pushing for a third national car, displaying even more eagerness than handling national debt and livelihood issues. Disregarding public sentiments, Pakatan ministers are more than ready to fully support the third national car plan.

The Pakatan government disregards the fact that people are now stuck in a distressed economic condition, especially with financial aid removed and economic woes not properly addressed, the livelihood predicaments faced by people have continued to deteriorate.

The Pakatan government has not put forward any constructive proposal, and is blindly endorsing Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad’s ambition of launching a third national car. At present, the Pakatan government should focus more on people’s livelihood issues and ways to improve security, environmental and cost of living issues. Instead of constantly endorsing third national car plan and disregarding the problems that should be of concern.

It is not the first time that the Pakatan government skips livelihood issues, not only the third national car, but also on abolishing the death penalty. All these policies and issues run counter public sentiments and were hastily implemented or proposed, whereas livelihood issues are being swept under the carpet and ignored.

The Pakatan government is too focused on politicising issues, that they disregard people’s needs and the country’s development, leading to stagnation of country’s progress due to politicking. More so, with no opposition from any DAP leaders on issues that are against the people’s will, till they gleefully defend it when they are not supposed to. The people can only bear and suffer in silence.
