Malaysia Blossom Awards await three artists extraordinaire
MCA HQ, 30 May- Chairman of the 2016 Blossom Arts Festival Malaysia (BAFM) Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun urges individuals and organizations involved in cultural and arts activities to nominate suitably qualified candidates for the Malaysia Blossom Awards so that their hard works and contributions can be duly acknowledged.
“Nomination for the Malaysia Blossom Awards closes on 7 June 2016. Thereafter begins the preliminary assessment. The final judging will be conducted from 15 to 20 June 2016 and the Awards will be presented on 30 June 2016 during the BAFM closing ceremony.”
Adding that “undertaking arts is not an easy path in Malaysia,” she pointed out that “there are artists who strive hard and never question the yield and even bring local arts to the international scene. Premised on this, the Malaysian Chinese Cultural and Arts Consultative Council created this award as an affirmation and recognition for Chinese Malaysian citizens with tremendous achievements and exemplary contributions in culture and arts.”
The Malaysia Blossom Awards comprises three categories, namely Arts Award, Cultural Award and Lifetime Achievement Award.
Arts Award
• Malaysian citizen age above 40 years.
• Actively engages in displaying and/or performing of arts, including show arts, visual arts, folk custom, calligraphy, painting and so on, with outstanding achievement and had contributed tremendously in their preservation and promotion.
Cultural Award
• Malaysian citizen age above 40 years.
• Actively engages in the usage of wordings in narration, creation and promotion of literature, history, philosophy, theatre, lyrics and so on, with outstanding achievement and has contributed tremendously in their preservation and promotion.
Lifetime Achievement Award
• Malaysian citizen age above 60 years.
• Distinguished role model whose lifetime efforts contributed to the development and promotion of Malaysian Arts and Culture.
