Pakatan Selangor state govt needs a “water disruption KPI” to improve water services

At 10:00pm on 23 Sept 2021, another unscheduled water supply disruption befell in Shah Alam, Selangor due to burst pipes. Since these problems are so prevalent, the Pakatan Selangor state government might as well set up a KPI pertaining to water supply consistency and take punitive actions on the associated officers.

Residents of Selangor are tired of these endless, recurring disruptions to basic amenities. It is high time for a KPI system to be introduced so that the relevant officers, Air Selangor management, and even state representatives are held accountable for the inconveniences caused. The KPI system could even compel a salary cut when disruptions happen.

For example: for every time Selangor and the Klang Valley encounter water disruption, a fixed proportion of salary of the relevant officer should be cut; hence, the only way to get full salary is a month with zero disruptions.

The occurrences of water supply disruption have prolonged more than 10 years; It is inexcusable for the Pakatan Harapan (previously Pakatan Rakyat) government to not have found a comprehensive solution after more than 10 years of administration.

On the other hand, Air Selangor has announced a scheduled water disruption from 9:00 pm 28 September to 6:00 am 29 September in the Hulu Langat Region, affecting areas such as Taman Sg Besi Indah, Taman Seri Belimbing, Taman Harmoni Indah, Taman Harmoni, The Mines, Taman Seri Timah, Balakong, Sg Long, Mahkota Cheras and others. Residents in these areas are advised to store up enough water for cleaning and cooking.
