Tan Sri Muhyiddin ! Why Now?

Following up on Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia President Tan Sri Muhyiddin’s exploiting the Red Shirts’ violence by attacking our Prime Minister (Free Malaysia Today, 16 Oct 2016), let it be known that the “racist and rude Red Shirts (using the words of Muhyiddin)” who had contributed to the seemingly increasingly strained race relations in Malaysia have existed right from the era of Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohammad, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Tan Sri Muhyiddin.

None of these leaders had criticised, condemned or admonished this culture of mob violence when it started rearing their ugly heads years beyond.

It was much easier to nip this culture at the bud during Tun Dr. Mahathir’s and Dato Seri Anwar's time as he was all powerful and strong then.

Unfortunately they have allowed this ugly "bullying" culture to grow and progress to the fore with the strength they amass today.

Fortunately and at least credit must be given to UMNO under the leadership of Dato’ Seri Najib Razak who had distanced and curbed this culture in their party.

In fact, many were aghast and disgusted with this bullying culture that had reared its ugly heads decades ago.

In fact Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had directly and indirectly contributed to the growth of this culture by declaring "I am Malay first, Malaysian second" followed with Tun Dr. Mahathir's endorsement of the other extreme right wing Perkasa of which Tun is their adviser.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin has expressedly and tacitly endorsed the Malay supremacy and racist trend then in defiance and direct contrast with Dato’ Sri Najib Razak's 1Malaysia intended to curb and water down these racist rants and trends.

I am surprised that Tan Sri Muhyiddin has made an about-turn and is now trying to place the rude and uncouth culture manifested by Merah solely on Prime Minister Dato Sri Najib who has made efforts by words and deeds towards a more Malaysian approach. Tan Sri Muhyiddin, despite being his Number 2 then had never supported the moderate approach taken by the Prime Minister at that time and now.
