Press statement by MCA Vice President Datuk Tan Teik Cheng

3 major questions waiting to be clarified, Pakatan, DAP and Nga Kor Ming please answer

I urge Pakatan Harapan and DAP to act against allegations that Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming had  colluded with a businessman and awarded a government post in exchange for donations. Nga Kor Ming, who is the main suspect in the case must also come forward to explain in explicit.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had earlier made public the monthly incomes of Pakatan Cabinet Ministers and their Deputies, as well as that of some Members of Parliament. The combined income of RM1,161,160 of Nga Kor Ming and his wife has surpasses the RM86,646.92 income of Lim Guan Eng and his wife, which was also at thetop on the list. This has courted people’s doubts of government officials colluding with businessmen.

I would like to emphasise that, Pakatan, DAP and Nga Kor Ming must answer these three major questions and prove their innocence in public.

The first question, will Pakatan adhere to the principle of integrity and transparency, and instruct the MACC and the Attorney General’s Office (AGC) to investigate Nga Kor Ming’s role in the political donation case, and whether it involves a collusion between government officials and businessmen? Is it a Political deal?

Pakatan has always self-advocated to be clean, fair and transparent. Therefore, any allegation over its leader's involvement in corruption and abuse of power must be handled impartially, especially after lawyer Mohd Khairul Azam has lodged a report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), of alleged bribery and abuse of power by Nga Kor Ming.

The second question is whether DAP will follow the principles of integrity and transparency. In response to Nga Kor Ming’s integrity issue, will DAP instruct its Disciplinary Committee to open an investigation and freeze the party and official positions of those involved?

The allegation cannot be ignored. Nga Kor Ming, one of the case’s suspect, must come forward and explain to the society and to the public. Nga Kor Ming, holds senior position, must come forward bravely and not dodge. But he remains silent without giving any response.

The third question is that Nga Kor Ming must come forward and make it clear as to whether the case involves cronyism, conflict of interest, nepotism or collusion between government and business?

I doubt if Nga Kor Ming’s silence on the matter implies that he is guilty or afraid to face it.
