Press Statement by MCA Youth National Chairman Senator Chong Sin Woon

Zainuddin Maidin is self-indulgent; MCA is relevant & will only strive harder

As an outdated politician, ex-Information Minister Tan Sri Zainuddin Maidin’s self-righteous remarks seeking public attention is regrettable. I find his desperate plight very pitiful.

Zainuddin claimed that “MCA is dead and waiting to be buried in the 14th General Election.” Such self-righteous and arrogant criticisms will not jeopardise but on the contrary, will only make MCA work harder and double our party’s efforts for the well-being of the nation.

MCA has gone through many highs and lows since our party’s founding, which is not easy. But these challenges have failed to stop MCA from continuing our political battle, defending the Constitutional rights of all Malaysians irrespective of ethnicity and building the nation. We understand that a little pain is the motivation to push us forward. If we give up after only going through some obstacles, then we will not survive till now.

As MCA has always believed, moderation and rationalism are the basic principles of ruling a country, where these values are required in defending the national interests and forming the direction of the country’s development. All Malaysians will acknowledge this roadmap is most suitable for a multiracial country like Malaysia.

The return of the Chinese votes in the June by-elections of Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar proves that voters wanted the route of moderation, and the favourable outcome came from MCA’s continuous efforts. However, MCA will not remain satisfied with these results and will continue to defend and uphold the Constitutional rights of all multiracial Malaysians for the progress of our country and the general well-being our peoples.
