In the past few days, everyone in the country has read the terrible news about the floods in multiple States caused by the annual monsoon's heavy rains. As of January 9, 2021, a total of 7 states in the country are expereincing flooding. The worst-affected re the states of Johor and Pahang, as well as Terengganu, Perak, Selangor, Kelantan and Kedah. More than 41,000 people are affected.

The Crisis Relief Squad of MCA (CRSM) has been raising funds for disaster reief in those flood-affected state through the GoCare donation drive crowdfunding, with a fundraising goal of RM50,000. In view of the increasing severity of the flooding, the victims will be needing a larger amount of material assistance, so we call upon the rakyat to actively donate so that we can send relief materials to the victims soon as possible, in order to help them.

In addition to fundraising, the CRSM is also actively recruiting volunteers to participate in disaster relief operations. The CRSM has mobilized more than 500 volunteers to participate in disaster relief works so far, including delivering dry food and supplies to the victims, assisting in the relocation of victims and delivering PPE, as well as carrying out post-disaster clean-up and reconstruction work.

The CRSM has been selected by the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) as a 'Rakan NADMA'. CRSM will be disseminating first-hand information about the floods and weather forecasts through Facebook, in order to to raise social vigilance. Visit our information website at:
