Taizou delegation pays courtesy visit to MBRACE

A Chinese delegation led by the First Deputy Mayor of Taizhou, Yang Jie has visited the MCA Belt and Road Centre (MBRACE) at Wisma MCA, as to promote bilateral trade and investment, as well as cultural exchange between Taizhou and Malaysia.

As pointed out by Dato’ Sri Chuah Poh Khiang, MCA Belt and Road Centre (MBRACE) Executive Chairman, the main purpose Taizhou delegation to Malaysia is to promote the city’s economic development and opportunities, but also to strengthen business cooperation and business matchmaking among corporations in both nations.

“The Taizhou Municipal Government is strongly promoting its pharmaceutical and port logistics sectors, hoping to form cooperation with our local businesses. This include inviting local businesses to participate in the Taizhou International Medicine Expo, as well as to explore the potential collaboration with our furniture industry on Furniture Industrial Park project in the port area. Besides, the Taizhou Municipal Government also actively encourage their local corporations to explore ASEAN markets, especially Malaysia.’’ Chuah added.

According to Yang Jie, the first deputy mayor of Taizhou in the interaction session, there are a number of industries with comparative advantage in Taizhou, namely bio-pharmacy, equipment manufacturing, new energy, port logistics and digital information. Among others, timber import-export trading through Taizhou port ranks top in Asia, implying that it has full potential in developing timber-related industrial chains, such as the furniture industrial park. This area can be explored further through cooperation with Malaysia.

As part of the ruling government, MCA play an important role of bridging Malaysia-China friendly relations, maintaining cooperation between both nations, making it an important channel for belt and road collaboration, specifically for the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) seeking business matchmaking and trade related activities.

The close ties between MBRACE and Taizhou municipal government is believed to be effective in promoting the trade cooperation and economic development between Malaysia and China. Chuah believed that this relation will help in expanding Malaysia’s export market and trade volume, but also providing a platform for the SMEs to explore oversea market.
