DAP making another U-turn on non-Malay PM

The words of the late Karpal Singh when he was DAP Chairman in 2012 are still fresh in our minds but obviously DAP and Lim Kit Siang have already forgotten or making a U-turn.

The late Karpal had then said: “as long as I am alive, I will continue to struggle to see a non-Malay become Prime Minister,” adding that there is no prohibition in the Federal Constitution.

Thus, there was nothing wrong for MCA President Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai to note that “only Kit Siang himself knows whether he harbours any intention to become Prime Minister or Deputy but we are certain that he is not a leader who can be trusted.” He commented that if DAP Lim Kit Siang became Prime Minister, all racial hell will break lose as the said leader was not known for his racial harmony approach. The President was correct in all counts. But why is there a need for DAP to demonise the President as playing UMNO’s tune or singing from Hadi Awang’s sheet? This is the typical racial discord and hatred that DAP has been sowing by associating or attributing all that MCA stands for with a racial slant towards UMNO, PAS and in the past, Perkasa.

It is this racial rhetoric that DAP has been harping on that they have stereotyped themselves as the true champions of the Chinese and accusing MCA as “selling out” the Chinese rights and liberties to UMNO that has earned DAP emotional support from the majority of the Chinese voters.

Now that DAP realises that it cannot win over or capture “Putrajaya” without Malay support despite near absolute support from Chinese voters , they are now pandering to the Malays through Parti  Pribumi Bersatu and Perkasa. Now that they have lost their support from PAS, they have also attempted to retain their previous support from PAS via the newly minted PAN. It is on this premise that Lim Kit Siang had said that a “Harapan government is more capable than UMNO or BN in protecting the rights and interests of all...especially the Malays and Islam.” In the same vein, his son Lim Guan Eng has highlighted that the DAP Penang government is allocating a bigger sum to Islamic development than to Chinese schools, etc.

These are examples of DAP double talk. On one hand, they are accusing MCA racial compromises as playing second fiddle or subservient to UMNO or PAS. On the other hand, they will be pandering for Malay/Muslim support.

The point now is: “Has Lim Kit Siang or DAP now abandoned the late Karpal Singh’s stand that DAP will be fighting for a Non-Malay to be the Prime Minister?”

It is only fair that Lim Kit Siang and DAP come clean to all if this is so.
