UTAR offers its students two types of interest-free loans: Apply online

Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman must be lauded for exercising social responsibility owing to the economic difficulties that have been wrought by the Covid-19 pandemic. To reduce the financial burden and pressures on UTAR students and their parents, the university will provide interest free loans to its students. Therefore, students no longer need to worry about dropping out, homelessness, hunger, living expenses, tuition fees etc due to shortage of funds.

During this period of the Movement Control Order (MCO), in addition to the need for the public to cooperate with the government’s instructions and with advice to take adequate self-protection and preventive measures, there is also a need for support from various entities. This will contribute towards the government’s efforts to prevent and contain the contagion from spreading, as well as to reduce the rakyat’s burden. These two interest-free loans by UTAR for its students are a primary example.

Affected students may apply for either of the interest-free loans depending on one’s needs. Students have an option of applying for a one-off interest free loan of RM500 or below, or applying for an interest-free loan exceeding RM500. However, the latter loan requires a guarantor while the former does not.

This move by UTAR highlights the efforts of MCA and education institutions founded by MCA in the field of education, culture and society, and particularly in education. The interest-free loans not only promise students a good academic environment but also ensure that students will not be burdened with tuition fees. They will also secure quality higher education.

Interested students may apply for this interest-free loan through UTAR’s official website at www.utar.edu.my.
