GEORGE TOWN: The third link proposed by the state government may affect the Penang Port Sdn Bhd (PPSB), said Penang MCA.

Its secretary Dr Tan Chuan Hong said that PPSB is among the important economic resources of Penang and its development has attracted foreign investments.

“If the port is put aside, Penang will lose its competitiveness. Does Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng wish to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs?” he asked yesterday.

Dr Tan also questioned why the state wanted to build a bridge from Gurney Drive to Bagan Ajam.

“Why now only Lim wants to abolish the undersea tunnel plan? Even if he cancels it, the DAP government has given the people’s hard-earned money to the successful bidder,” he said.

Dr Tan urged that the state Public Accounts Committee report on the Penang Transport Master Plan be made public immediately.

It was reported recently that Lim had challenged the Federal Government to grant approval for a third bridge as an alternative to the planned undersea tunnel.
