Almost everyday Ministers & Deputies are absent from Parliament, Lim Kit Siang should table a motion on salary deduction for absentees

I would like to suggest to the DAP Member of Parliament for Iskandar Puteri, Lim Kit Siang, to table a motion in Parliament on salary deduction, so as to punish and discipline these repeated absentees comprising Ministers and their Deputies.


When Lim Kit Siang was in the Opposition, he had constantly tabled motion to deduct salary of Barisan Ministers and Deputies who had committed the same offence. Now that many Pakatan Ministers and Deputies have been absent from Parliament for nearly every day, they should be accorded the same treatments for discipline purpose.

Lim Kit Siang has been in politics for more than five decades, and is the longest-serving politician after Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad. So he has the absolute right and status to discipline the Pakatan Ministers and Deputies. This is to ensure that they are disciplined and perform the duties expected of them.

I would like to remind Lim Kit Siang to table the motion as a punishment to those who ‘‘skipped’’ the Parliamentary sessions, in order to restore the sacred dignity of Parliament.

In the past, the DAP used to use the excuse that Members of Parliament must participate in debates in Parliament, when they were unable to handle livelihood issues affecting the people. Now with 42 DAP Members of Parliament, comprising 6 Ministers and 6 Deputy Ministers, having been absent from Parliament, how DAP is going to explain to the people?

Instead of poking fun at the former Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak for speaking to the air in Parliament, why not Lim Kit Siang take this opportunity to discipline the large group of Pakatan Ministers and Deputies? This will be more constructive than ridiculing political opponent.

As long as Lim Kit Siang tables a motion on salary deduction as a form of punishment, he would be able to instil in the ruling and Opposition Members of Parliament good discipline and work ethics. The Pakatan Ministers and Deputies will also be more serious in handling government administrative affairs and national issues.
