Joint press statement by Wanita MCA and MCA Pahang State Liaison Committee in response to MACC’s announcement on recovering 1MDB funds

With reference to the announcement by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) that it has filed 41 civil forfeiture suits to recover funds belonging to 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) of which Wanita MCA and MCA Pahang State Liaison Committee (SLC) have been listed, both Wanita MCA and MCA Pahang SLC welcome this move as it will enable us to clear our names in court.

We hereby assert that Wanita MCA and MCA Pahang SLC had no knowledge, nor were informed as to the source of the funding received from the Prime Minister before the 13th general elections in 2013.

Since last year, Wanita MCA and MCA Pahang SLC have extended our fullest cooperation throughout investigations conducted by MACC and the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM). We have furnished the activities report of which the funds were utilised for as intended.

Wanita MCA and MCA Pahang SLC are seeking legal advice from our lawyers handling the matter to prove our innocence in the courts.
