PSS proposed to be scrapped: Sabahans Rejoice!

The decision by the Sabah Chief Minister Dato’ Seri Shafie Apdal and state cabinet to scrap the Pas Sementara Sabah (PSS) is undeniably a response to the Sabahans’ mandate in the recent Kimanis by-election. It is a victory for all Sabahans!

Time and again, Pakatan Harapan leaders have arrogantly chided the opposition, claiming that voting the opposition would not bring any change. However, Malaysia bears witness as each precious vote has shown that the Rakyat are not powerless in rejecting what they feel is unfit for Sabah.

As a matter of fact, the Rakyat’s emotions have been pent-up, in the midst of PH politicians who do not listen to them, but choose to act high and mighty instead.

As the Sabah chapter wraps up, this episode strikes a clear warning for PH: Don’t treat the people as mere fools, or think that one can deceive all with grandiose promises.

After being elected into office, PH had opted out of seeking the public’s opinion for its many initiatives, leading to the premature scrapping of these projects.

Or perhaps, after almost 2 years of governance, PH’s track record has conditioned the mindset of the public to become wary of whatever figures and announcement by them. Who can blame them?

A government that cannot secure its people’s trust cannot be an effective government; if the decline continues, it suffices to say Pakatan’s days will meet a short end.
