Heng: Govt urged to find solution to assist JJPTR victims to get back their hard-earned money

I would like to urge the government to come up with good solutions, aimed not only to clamp down JJPTR, but also to help the fraud victims getting their money back.

Over the past few days, such money scams were widely reported by the media, which revealed its alarming penetration levels in Malaysia. Those affected range from students, professionals to members of public. The money game addiction is now a serious problem in our society, with loss of money reportedly to be over 400 million US dollars, and more than 200,000 of investors fallen prey to it. The trend is worrisome and requires urgent attention.

In regard of this, after news broke that the JJPTR has collapsed, the government is fast to direct cross-departmental cooperation, to jointly explore the effective ways of clamping down on these money scams.

Besides the crackdown on JJPTR, the government should also look for other ways of protecting the Rakyat, such as requesting the industry operators in returning the investors’ money, so that these people can recover their hard-earned savings.

What is important now is to help the fraud victims to recover their invested money and minimise losses. Although the victims are also partly to be blamed for what happened, we also should not stand aside and allowed them to be bullied by the culprit and suffered on their own, this is after all their hard-earned money, and it involved many innocent and ignorant students, women and elderly.

I would like to advise everyone, irrespective of those who have fallen victim or still looking to play the game, to learn from this lesson and stay out of money games, so they will not be conned in the end.
