Preparations are underway to ensure a smooth EGM

MCA Headquarters completed a rehearsal for the Extraordinary Meeting of the General Assembly (EGM) scheduled to be held this Saturday, 10 Oct 09 at 10:00 a.m.

To ensure that proceedings of the EGM run smoothly, a mock session was held on Wednesday, 7 Oct 09 at 10:30 a.m. whereby MCA HQ staff practised the procedures for the voting come this 10 Oct 09 dubbed 10-10-10 at Dewan San Choon on the second floor and at the Auditorium on the third floor.  The process included from a rehearsal of central delegates registering their attendance and being seated, then queuing up neatly row by row to obtain the ballot papers. This was followed with selecting the resolutions on the ballot papers at a counter similar to any by- or general elections where voters decide their options in privacy, before dropping the ballot papers in the transparent box.

Preparations for the EGM going into full swing

Full democracy yet within the domains of privacy are the standards which MCA upholds in determining the future direction of the party. A press centre will be set up for the convenience of the more than 200 media personnel (both domestic and foreign) to do live coverage and reporting.

Central delegates are expected to make wise decision pertaining to this very crucial EGM which is held amidst times when Barisan Nasional is undergoing a heave of challenges. It is hoped that central delegates will exercise restraint, observe decorum during the voting process, and accept the results in a magnanimous manner.

Ultimately, party solidarity must be the main goal of all MCA central delegates. Closing ranks for the betterment of the party and the Chinese community to strive for improved multiracial relations whilst working towards equitable accessibility for all ethnicities are among the means for Barisan Nasional to recapture the lost confidence of the Malaysian public. A non-fragmented party weighs plenty in balancing off the strategies of the Pakatan Rakyat or against any quarters that seek to enforce hegemony.
