MCA Spokesperson Sdr Lee Wei Kiat today urges Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Razak to be firm in his approach to strengthen the government’s mechanism in executing its policies, be fair towards all races when implementing the government’s policies, creating a win-win situation for all parties while maintainin harmony between different races to achieve the 1Malaysia plan.

Wei Kiat who is also the MCA Information and Communication Bureau Chairman also pointed out that Dato’ Sri Najib had made several announcements at a dinner organized by the MCA and the several Chinese association at Putrajaya International Convention Centre on 27 June 2009 which included that the government will introduce a new category of Public Service Department (PSD) scholarships based purely on merit, Chinese schools could be built on government land and coming out with a new policy that will be a win-win situation to all races in addressing the Bumiputera quota issue.

“MCA welcomes the announcements made by our Prime Minister and we believe that this is what the Chinese community had been wishing and hoping for from the government all these years. The mentioned new policies by Dato’ Sri Najib is good but the most important is its implementation. The government’s administration under Dato’ Sri Najib must quickly come out with comprehensive action plans in executing the said policies in ensuring that it will be carried out effectively. It is very important that the government must monitor the civil servants who will act as the executor when carrying out the government policies,” emphasized him.

“The government should take stern actions against the so-called “Little Napoleons” among the civil servants who when implementing the government policies will create their own interpretations to deviate the original objectives of any policies which in the end will result in the government failing to achieve its original aim,” he added.

Wei Kiat reiterated that MCA Cabinet Ministers will cooperate fully in implementing the new policies as proposed by our Prime Minister. “Besides voicing out our views and being involved in formulating any government policies, we will also monitor the effectiveness of the policies being implemented. Hence, MCA will fully support the 1Malaysia plan by Dato’ Sri Najib through the party’s three thrusts of transformation plan”.
