Press Statement issued by MCA Secretary-General YB Senator Dato’ Wong Foon Meng on the EGM

MCA Sec-Gen: EGM to be held on 10 October 2009

MCA Secretary-General YB Senator Dato’ Wong Foon Meng today expressed that after much deliberation and discussion from various perspectives, in the best interest of the party, the MCA Headquarters has decided to convene the party’s Extraordinary Meeting of the General Assembly (EGM) on 10th October 2009 (Saturday) at 10.00 a.m. at Dewan San Choon, Wisma MCA, Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.

Foon Meng pointed out that after the EGM Coordination Meeting held on 14 September 2009, both parties had unanimously resolved to respect the grassroots’ view in holding only one EGM and to use a democratic channel to resolve the party matters.

Pursuant to the Party Constitution, the MCA Secretary General will send out the EGM notices to all the party central delegates.

He expressed hopes that all the central delegates would attend the EGM and make a wise decision taking into consideration the party’s future before selecting their choice.
