More Opposition defectors join BN fold

Taking the lead from 700 former DAP members who fled out of disillusionment against the Opposition, this time, on Sunday, 22 April 2007, it was reported that 50 PKR members had since defected to UMNO Youth.

It is not a matter of jumping on the bandwagon to join the Barisan family. It is a matter of leaving behind all the frays of the past, and starting life anew. If you want to contribute actively to Malaysia, come join BN.

For the mass defection to occur, it only shows that realization has dawned on the futility of being in the Opposition. All PKR and DAP can only do is rant and rave about the same contention, till it is beginning to border boredom. In fact, readers can already predict what BN’s opponents are going to ramble about next. It is just like a tape recorder repeatedly replayed.

What can the Opposition accomplish? Nothing positive, other than to brew resentment and stoke emotional rage against the BN coalition, probably out of jealousy that the BN family is the longest serving multi-racial ruling government in this country and in the world. No other political organ in the world can match the BN fete.

During Ijok’s nomination day, PKR supporters may have turned out in droves. But notably missing was its superstar advisor, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Where was he? Why was he performing this disappearing act on such an important day.?

How to trust PKR with all of Anwar’s appear-as-and-when-I-like-to performance? At the MAchap by-elections, Anwar was a no-show until the penultimate night of campaigning. Being an elected representative is about the commitment to serve, not a prancing act. Even then, most of what he rattled about was about PKR, thus steering attention to PKR. There was hardly any mention of DAP. It was hog-wash self-seeking attention exercise at best.
