Nominations for Ijok by-election has been decided on 19 April 2007 and polling day set for 28 April 2007. The Ijok seat fell vacant after MIC’s Datuk K. Sivalingam, 59, died while on a visit to India on April 4.
In the last general election in 2004, Sivalingam garnered 5,213 votes while PKR’s Abdol Raman Moharam got 3,564 votes.
As of April 4, Ijok recorded a total of 12,272 registered voters, including 39 postal ones. The electorate comprised 51.04% Malays, 28.16% Indians, 20.59% Chinese and 0.21% others.
The Batang Berjuntai Community Hall in Kuala Selangor would be the nomination and vote-tallying centre.
There would be nine polling stations and 28 streams for voters to cast their ballots.
