The government has no immediate plan to revise state road maintenance grant as it feels that the existing rate is still applicable, the Dewan Rakyat was told Tuesday.
Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Kong Cho Ha said the rate was determined based on current expenses and could vary according to current-year analysis.
"It is calculated based on the cost of workers, materials and equipment used for maintenance activities," he said in reply to Hasbi Habibollah (BN-Limbang).
He said starting last year the government had widened the scope for the grant, to take into consideration maintenance of agricultural and village roads.
"State governments are given maintenance grants for minimum quality road, substandard road, low-cost housing road, back alley, tourism road, village road and agricultural road," he said.
