Selangor Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) secretary Mohd Yahya Mat Sahri has quit as senior aide to Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim and state PKR secretary after he was suspended over allegations that he 'fixed' cleaning and garbage collection contracts.

Admitting that he was the aide mentioned by the MB, Yahya said:

“The allegations are being investigated by the ACA (Anti Corruption Agency). If any wrongdoing is found the agency can charge me.

“There is no call for the Mentri Besar to suspend me because it makes me look guilty in the eyes of the public even though it is only allegation at this stage’” he said Tuesday.

Yahya said he was upset because Khalid had never called him over the allegations and as such, he was unable to relate his side of the story.

“It did my part by providing a complete report on the matter but despite having worked so closely he never called me to give me a chance to explain the matter personally,” he said.

Yahya said he had informed party president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail on Monday of his intention to quit the posts and was advised to meet with PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim before taking any further action.

“I wanted to call for a press conference on Monday to announce my decision and give my reasons but was advised to meet with Anwar before taking my next step,” he said.
