Top PAS ulama Datuk Dr Haron Din chided some quarters in the party for questioning the decisions made by the Syura Council, the party's supreme ulama body.
He likened their audacity to that of Umno members and said that indiscipline in PAS was worse than in Umno.
He cited a letter written by members whom he did not identify, which questioned some decisions made by the council including the muzakarah (dialogue) with Umno.
In the letter distributed among a circle of people, the members had demanded a special meeting to discuss the council’s decisions.
“The credibility of the Syura Council has been affected by this type of behaviour,” he said in his winding-up speech at the PAS muktamar.
The ulama should not be subjected to this sort of questioning, he added.
PAS president Datuk Seri Hadi Awang said PAS was now a “kingmaker” and should seize the golden opportunity.
He said even Umno was now knocking on PAS' door instead of the other way around.
“They are asking us for ‘face-to-face’ meetings and telling us ‘I love you’,” he said in jest.
When delegates burst out laughing, he joked that he was learning English from vice-president Mohamed Sabu while the latter was learning Arabic from him.
Perak delegate Zulkifli Ahmad, who suggested that Pakatan Rakyat come up with a common logo, said some PAS members found it hard to mark on the DAP’s rocket logo when voting.
Kelantan delegate Muhammad Mustafa said since the party president had explained the legitimacy of muzakarah in Islam, the party should mend the split caused by the talks with Umno and form lasting ties with non-Muslims.
