Chung Hwa to relocate to former SJKC Damansara

Approval has been given for SJKC Chung Hwa in Parit, Perak to be relocated to the old site of SJKC Daman- sara in Petaling Jaya, said Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong.

He expressed hope that the school could be used for the new school year, adding that he made a site inspection on May 5 with Works Ministry officials to look for measures to settle the traffic problems and repairs.

“The ministry had allocated RM150,000 for the repair work of the old school,” he said when winding up the debate on the Budget at committee stage.

He said the closure of SJKC Damansara was due to requests by the school’s Parent-Teacher Associa- tion which wanted a larger space and more security for the children.

The Education Ministry closed the school on Jan 2, 2001 on grounds that it no longer provided a conducive learning environment because of traffic congestion and noise pollution from the nearby Sprint Highway.

Subsequently, the new Damansara school was built in the Tropicana area several kilometres away.
