Gobala hands Pakatan a blow as constituents go to the polls
AFTER a week of intense campaigning by the Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat, the constituents of Tenang go to the ballot box to decide between Umno’s Mohd Azahar Ibrahim and Normala Sudirman of PAS.
Barisan, which held the state seat located within the Labis parliamentary constituency in Johor before the death of Datuk Sulaiman Taha, is confident of repeating its comfortable victory in the 2008 general election. Sulaiman had won by 2,492 votes against Md Saim Siran, also of PAS.
Pakatan Rakyat, on the other hand, wants desperately to turn the tables on the ruling coalition whose support among the people seems to be on the upswing.
However, Pakatan was dealt a huge blow from the other end of the peninsula when Padang Serai MP, N. Gobalakrishnan, decided to quit the PKR yesterday, saying he had lost confidence in its leadership.
