LABIS: Thousands thronged Dataran Labis here to watch the concert Malam Mesra 1Malaysia in conjunction with Chinese New Year here.

The slight drizzle earlier in the evening did not stop the crowd from making a beeline to the venue last night. The mood was upbeat and the crowd, mostly young people, were entertained to Chinese songs by local artistes.

Also present were MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek, deputy president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai and Labis MP Chua Tee Yong.

Dr Chua, in his speech, told the crowd that this year would be a good year, and that economic growth would be healthy.
