Press Statement by MCA Central Committee member and Deputy Chairman of MCA Publicity Bureau Sdr Loh Seng Kok

Kit Siang & son must step down since all anti-PAS criticisms led by Karpal solely

Both DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang and his son, the Secretary General Lim Guan Eng should surrender the Rocket’s authority in entirety to their chairman Karpal Singh to steer DAP to oppose the aspirations of PAS to implement hudud law.

Since Kit Siang and Guan Eng are unable to influence PAS against implementing hudud law, they should step down to rescue the Chinese and non-Muslim communities from hardships.

From the beginning, PAS has been very precise that they desire to enact hudud law and have never switched their stand. Other than Karpal, neither Kit Siang nor Guan Eng dares to oppose PAS’ demands.

PAS’ top leader Dato’ Seri Nik Aziz on 25 July 2012 commented that there was no reason for PAS not to implement hudud law although there were parties which disagreed to it. Nik Aziz added that “there is no need for me to repeat it as it is nothing new and almost everybody knows it.”

DAP’s failure to resist PAS shows the Rocket are unable to protect non-Muslims from being subjected to PAS’ hardline doctrines. DAP is afraid of disagreeing with PAS and will not fight for the rights of the rakyat.

Karpal’s objections relegated as personal view

It becomes ludicrous that while Karpal disagrees with PAS’ goal to form an Islamic state based on hudud law, not one of his DAP’ comrades stand in solidarity with their Chairman. They downgrade Karpal’s concerns as his personal opinion. Thus, Pakatan leaders are mere yes-men to PAS without any party positions.

On 13 May this year, Guan Eng had declared that all Pakatan parties will abide with the policies as jointly reached upon in the Common Policy Framework. However, on 14 May 2012, PAS leaders rebutted him asserting that should Pakatan seize federal office, PAS hudud law will be implemented. Karpal had also urged the tripartite pact to discuss PAS’ Islamic state agenda and hudud law. However, since Nik Aziz’s determined assertion, it is regrettable that DAP turned mute.

Now, more than two months later, DAP have consistently not voiced any objection, while PAS obstinately reiterates that they will enforce hudud law, thereby serving a slap on Guan Eng’s cheeks!

Herewith, I reiterate my party President’s concerns i.e. as Malaysia is a multiracial country, any efforts to impose PAS hudud law is abound to adversely affect non-Muslims. Our party will not compromise on hudud law.
