MCA Public Services and Complaints Bureau set up the Citizenship Task Force Service Centre for those facing citizenship woes

MCA Public Services and Complaints Bureau chairman Sdr Wong Nai Chee during a bureau meeting proposed to set up the Citizenship Task Force Service Centre in every state to compile all the complaints and cases involving those facing difficulties in applying for their Malaysian citizenship.

According to Dr Jeffrey Goh, who is the centre’s national coordinator, he expressed that they are using a holistic approach in resolving the problems concerning the citizenship applications rather that in the past, they will only handle the problems on a case by case basis. He added that they wanted to resolve the issue at the policy level.

“Those facing problems in applying for their citizenship could fill in the survey forms and hand over photocopies of their identity card, birth certificate, citizenship application receipt and related documents,” he said.

Dr Goh pointed out that the forms will be sent out to MCA division branches at every state in stages. He further said they would first open the Federal Territory centre for a month, beginning on 11 April 2009.

Dr Goh added that once they have completed compiling all the survey forms, they will prepare a position paper to be submitted to the MCA President and other MCA Cabinet Ministers to be discussed in the Cabinet and also to the Home Ministry for further action.
