PETALING JAYA: A DAP branch chairman who is aligned with Selangor state legislative assembly speaker Datuk Teng Chang Khim alleged that he was victimised by the party’s disciplinary committee.

Vellasamy Rasu @ Raman, who is the Pantai Sepang DAP branch chairman, claimed the committee had sacked him for frivolous reasons.

“I believe I was sacked because of my support for Teng. The other leaders in the state want to diminish his support,” he said here yesterday.

Vellasamy said the committee had alleged that he had submitted applications for bogus members to set up six new branches in Sepang but it was not true.

“I just collected the copies of the identity cards from the new members and sent them to the party headquarters for verification and approval,” he said.

He said the March 26 disciplinary committee inquiry did not ask any questions about the new memberships but were interested on allegations of missing funds from the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Ladang Telok Merbau, Sepang.

He said the Registrar of Societies had already investigated the complaint and had cleared him and recognised him as temple chairman.

Vellasamy said the state DAP leadership practises selective persecution.
